Continuing with my tests of using Youtube for videogrammetry content, I’ve been doing a lot of looking for urban exploration videos that meet scan criteria. The church model here is about the best you can typically get, while the chaos on the right is how most end up.
The best kind of on foot video is a long uncut sequence going back and forth within a space, but that’s rare and usually better found in the “slow tv” category. Urbex videos tend to leave a ton of possible footage on the cutting room floor and just focus on the interesting things they found. Sometimes if a room is interesting enough as a whole they’ll pan around it, like the center model. Even on a long take, the resolution tends to be low and there’s a often ton of motion blur. The lenses used are also always too narrow to capture much of the surrounding area - real lack of wide shots.
