More model informationThe Scout was commissioned in Port Townsend in 1896 as a “revenue chaser,” a Coast Guard vessel designed for hunting smugglers. It changed hands a number of times, and eventually ended up in private service in 1930. Some time after that, it appears to have been burned and sank. The hull is mostly intact, though the rudder and propeller are missing.
Dan Warter at DCS Films has done a lot of solid research on the history of this wreck, and even has some interesting theories: http://www.dcsfilms.com/Site_4/Scout.html
