Utheemu Gan’davaru (Utheemu Palace), HAF-UTM-2
This elite residence on Utheemu Island in Haa Alifu Atoll is approximately 500 years old. It was the residence of the national hero of the Maldives, Mohamed Thakurufaanu, and his family. The large thatch hall in the complex was used to hold customary feasts, and has been rebuilt in the same traditional manner for centuries whenever in need of renovation. There are three main structures in the place. Boduge Kolhu (HAF-UTM-2-S9), Mariyaadhugekolhu (HAF-UTM-2-S10), and Ashigekolhu (HAF-UTM-2-S12). Mariyaadhuge is used more like a modern sitting room during those days. There are some chairs and a swing inside the structure.There is a Wall (HAF-UTM-2-S1, S11), Well (S2, S6, S20), Flagpole (S3, S5), Baby Scale (S4), Kitchen Location (S7), Store Room (Gudhan/S8), Boduge (S9), Maariyadhuge (S10), Ashige (S12), Gate (S13 to S19) located on the site.
