Smilodectes gracilis is an extinct species of primate from the Eocene of North America and has been found in Wyoming and Colorado. Based on its teeth, members of the group that Smilodectes gracilis is a part of are presumed to be leaf-eating herbivores. The behavior is assumed to be similar to that of modern New World monkeys, but its taxonomic relationship to modern monkeys is not well known.
