Tombstone of the infant Vacia, found in Carlisle. Dated to the second century.
The inscription tells us that this tombstone was for the infant Vacia, aged three. The stone depicts a much older female figure in a belted tunic and holding a bunch of grapes.
It is possible that this gravestone was bought ready-made for Vacia although children were often represented as diminutive adults.
The object is currently not on display. Accession Number: CALMG : 2000.230 or 1998.384.
