Valbanera Shipwreck - Mid Section

This model is the middle segment of the Valbanera shipwreck. It is believed to be the vessel’s amidships and engineering spaces. The shipwreck is located in the Quicksands area of Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. Valbanera sank in a September 1919 hurricane. All 488 persons onboard perished. University of Miami and NOAA researchers documented the site during a project in June 2021. Project funding was provided through a grant from NOAA’s Office of Ocean Exploration.
