Photogrammetry scan of the statue of Velleda by Hippolyte Maindron in 1843 based on 270 DSLR pictures.
On the advice of Alphonse de Gisors, architect of the Chamber of Peers, the statue of Velleda, a druidess who fell in love with her enemy, the young Eudore, a Roman officer, was commissioned. Leaning against a tree, she contemplates Eudore’s home, before committing suicide. The work, one of the first romantic sculptures, was a great success and earned its author immediate fame. The work is by Hippolyte Maindron (1801-1884). The marble statue was commissioned from the artist on January 6, 1843. (paristoric.com)
