Remains of a vertical boiler at Porth Wen Brickworks, Anglesey, North Wales.
The brickworks at Porth Wen produced silica firebricks and tiles sporadically from the 19th century until 1949 when the site was finally abandoned. The main access to the site was from the sea.
The boiler is located in the intertidal-zone next to the brickworks quay. This boiler may come from a steam crane used for the loading and unloading of boats, there also other crane parts amongst the seaweed along the base of the quay. A pair of flanged wheels that ran on tracks are close to the boiler.
