Viddalbåten:

Ein tradisjonell sunnmørsk bruksbåt frå 17-1800-talet – ein snidbetning(skråbotning) med 4 ro-rom og 5 årepar. Det vart nytta råsegl. Den er 9 m lang og 2.20 m brei.

Båten høyrde til på Ysten-garden på Viddal i Hjørundfjorden (Volda kommune) fram til 1990. Båten vart nytta til frakt, størjefangst og fiske i heimfjorden. Den vart også nytta til vintertorskefiske i Borgundfjorden, ved Ålesund.


A traditional boat from Sunnmøre from the 17-1800s, where the planks in the stem were laid at an angle slanting down towards the keel. It had 4 rowing positions and 5 pairs of oars and was rigged with a square sail. The vessel is 9 m long and 2.20 m wide.

The boat belonged to the Ysten farm in Viddal in the Hjørund fjord (Volda municipality) until 1990. It was used for carrying cargo, for tuna fishing, fishing in the local fjord and for winter cod fishing in the Borgund fjord near Ålesund.
