More model informationThe virtual pivot is a monolithic structure that takes advantage of elastic deformation of matter. Under application of a torque, the two pairs of beams deform symmetrically, which ensures an almost pure rotation of the inner stage.
This is called a virtual pivot because the axis of rotation is found at the intersection of the undeformed beams.
Theoretical calculations (strength of materials) and practical application can be found in this publication.
