The model was inspired by Kisho Kurokawa’s Takara Beautilion pavilion exhibited at the 1970 expo in Osaka Japan. The structures are designed to allow growth in all directions akin to a tree branch. The architectural concept is based on the avant-garde Metabolist movement which focuses on architecture built around a spine-like infrastructure with prefabricated, replaceable cell-like parts—easily attached and readily removable when their lifespan is over.
On a side note, I struggled with mapping the textures onto the model. As Magica Voxel has a 256 voxel limit, the model was exported in 2 parts and pieced together on Blender. However due to the model’s complexity, the UV smart unwrap did not work and I was unable to merge the materials into one. Therefore the top half lacks the opacity and emissive qualities. Hoping to resolve this someday.
