Boot scrapers where a common feature in the 18th and 19th centuries and would be used to remove dirt from shoes before entering a house.

This wall-mounted boot scraper, dating from the 19th century, was removed from a house in Elms Street in Derby. It is cast iron with a moulded formal floral design below the scraper blade.
