Late Medieval morse or plaque from Warden Abbey. Copper-gilt and champlevé enamel with a circular border in the form of angels. There is a central inscribed crucifix in high relief with St. John and the Virgin in branches which spring from the cross. Blue enamelled ground on which are letters and two croziers.

This enamel plaque is one of three objects relating to Warden Abbey, a Cistercian monastery in Bedfordshire (British Museum object numbers 1853,0707.1-3). It is argued that the patron of these objects is Abbot Walter Clifton (c 1377-97).
