Carved with swirling, glyph-like patterns and crowned with curling horns, this wide-grinning figure feels both ancient and otherworldly. Its enormous, spiral eyes and exposed teeth give the sense of an all-seeing sentinel frozen mid-laugh, as if amused by secrets only it knows. The design merges Pre-Columbian stone carving motifs with fantastical, creature-like exaggeration.
According to legend, this is the “Watcher in the Hollow,” a guardian spirit said to reside inside sacred trees. Its unblinking gaze pierced all deception, and those who lied in its presence would find themselves lost in the forest for a full year. Travelers who spoke truth, however, were guided safely to their destination.
Originally sculpted in polymer clay to resemble carved wood, this model was high-resolution 3D scanned and optimized for digital use. Ideal as a game artifact, boss idol, or environmental prop in worlds blending myth and fantasy.
