The water pump and well structure lies within Levengrove Park, Dumbarton. The pump dates to the 19th century but the structure covering the well has been recently rebuilt by Engineers from Covanburn Contracts as part of West Dunbartonshire Council’s Greenspace Section, Heritage Lottery Funded, Levengrove Park Restoration Project.
St Shear’s Well (AKA St Serf’s Well) though dating to the 19th century is said (according to local tradition) to lie close to an earlier (now gone) holy well associated with the now ruined St. Serf’s Church. The 3D model was carried out during the restoration works with the path next to the well nearing completion.
