This project was a recreation of Bryan Mark Taylor’s “Watermelon Slice” (Oil on Panel). I chose Bryan’s “Watermelon Slice” because of the simplicity of the shapes so that I could put more focus into the painting portion of the project. I modeled the backdrop and watermelon in Blender. I also used Blender’s texture painting tools for the first time to lay down a base coat (mostly to have a color-picking reference and a base layer to paint over in the next step). I brought the model and base coat into Procreate to paint with their oil brushes. From there, I brought it back into Blender, added some alpha cards (for floating brush strokes), brought it back into Procreate to add the brush strokes, and adjusted alpha levels and final details in Blender.
