Weight 3D Model
This lead weight was found on Isle of Bute, Scotland and is thought to be a Viking artefact brought to Bute by Vikings. It was found during an excavation of a building described as a longhouse. It is ornamented with a recycled piece from a tortoise brooch, a typical Scandinavian brooch design. Such weights were made in Scandinavia. Lead weights were used along with scales when trading silver bullion.
Size: approx. 3 cm wide and 3 cm high
Finding place: Little Dunagoil, Isle of Bute, Scotland (1958-62)
