Boulder / outcrop on M.O.D land, near West Loups, N of Cotherstone, County Durham.
This carved rock sits in fallen walling to the S of denuded West Loups’s farm. Referenced 6 in ‘Prehistoric Rock Art of County Durham, Swaledale and Wensleydale’ and ‘Lou 9b’ in ‘Prehistoric Rock Art in the Northern Dales’ publications, this rock was added to ERA as‘West Loups’s 3’ in 2008. All previous archives draw the motifs differently and appear to have missed some elements of the design.
