Boulder on Cotherstone Moor, near West Loups, N of Cotherstone, County Durham.
This ground level stone sits on open access land to the west of West Loups’s farm. Referenced 4 in ‘Prehistoric Rock Art of County Durham, Swaledale and Wensleydale’ and ‘Lou 9e’ in ‘Prehistoric Rock Art in the Northern Dales’ publications, this rock was added to ERA as ‘West Loups’s 5’ in 2008. These records all draw different motif arrangements and simpler designs than can be picked out on this model. However, it should be noted that all the motifs are highly eroded.
