William Starr (OKBN0014)3D Model
Rear of headstone belonging to William Starr which was carved by the stonecutter P. Sheedy. The rear of the memorial is decorated with a cherub’s or angels face in the centre of a sunburst encircled by the Latin motto Gloria in Excelsis Deo (Glory be to God on High) also known as the Hymn of the Angels, a hymn found in Greek texts as early as 380 A.D.. In the Roman Catholic Church, the faithful sing or recite it during Mass immediately after the “Lord, have mercy” (Kyrie Eleison) on feasts, solemnities and Sundays in Ordinary Time, Eastertime and Christmastide. The first words of this hymn come from the words the angels used while announcing to the shepherds about the birth of Christ. Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” Luke 2:14 For information on the headstone, visit:https://historicgraves.com/old-kilbarron/tn-okbn-0014/grave.
