Roman angle pliers with oval mouth. Rectangular legs in cross-section. One leg is only half preserved. Iron; l 17,4 cm; w 3,4 cm.

Tongs, especially forging tongs, appeared already in the pre-Roman Iron Age. Because of their simple design, tongs are suitable for a whole range of work and were widely used in the Roman period. Smaller and more specialised forms such as pincers and angle pliers were used.
