More model informationThis ceramic jug was found in a house in Margate, buried upside down below the cobble floor. It appeared to be deliberately dug into the chalk substrate, and was placed beside a former fireplace. The pottery has been provisionally dated to between 1790 - 1810 AD with the house being built by at least 1850 if not earlier.
The jug is missing its neck and handle both of which appear to be old breaks. The neck appears to have been filled with concrete, but the jug does appear to contain loose items; potentially metal nails.
The jug is due to be X-Rayed to be certain.
