Wmid-4e07ee - Iron Age Enamelled harness fitting3D Model
A incomplete enamelled harness fitting of probable late Iron Age dating (100 BC to 100 AD).
The harness fitting is an irregular shape, almost comma shaped, with a rounded head and a squared tail. The upper surface is flat, with five panels of enamel decoration. The rounded head has three enamel panels, each a lentoid or pointed oval shape, creating a triskele shape between them. The remaining two panels of enamel are sub triangular in shape, continuing down the length of the ‘comma’ tail’. The edges are bevelled. The reverse of the tail has a curved recess (1.6 mm deep), probably when it was fixed to another object. Behind the rounded head, is a circular shank with a patinated break at the end. The shank curves downwards.
