Wood Artifact with Silver Lion Head Adornment

Piece on loan from the Bureau of Archaeological Research in Tallahassee, Florida - Division of Historical Resources to the Tampa Bay History Center. Artifacts are recovered from Spanish Galleon ship wreck in Florida. Composite piece c. 1700s comprised of wood and silver wrapping. Lion head and attachment are silver. Laser scanned with white light instrument. The items in this piece are shown in a possible “fit” reconstruction, but today consist of individual pieces. 3D data allows us to experiment with reconstructions and designs, and test hypotheses.
