A pyramid puzzle is a mechanical puzzle (assembly puzzle) consisting of many component pieces in different shapes, which fit together to create a pyramid. This kind of puzzles is mostly designed for a single player where the goal is for the player to see through the principle of the object and after a process of trials and errors to reach the solution. With this in mind, they are often used as an intelligence test or in problem solving training. The idea behind this kind of puzzles lies in mathematics. The oldest known mechanical puzzle that appeared in the 3rd century BC comes from Greece and consisted of a square cut into 14 parts. Mechanical puzzles manufactured solely as Puzzles did not really manifest themselves until the start of the industrial revolution and the advent of a relatively wealthy middle class and a wider number of people seeking and able to afford an education for their children.
