This is a globe modelled using Agisoft PhotoScan Professional. It is made up of 134 photographs, taken by camera model DMC-FH4 (5mm) with the resolution of 4320 x 3240. The actual size of the globe is 12.5cm in diameter, with a scale of 1:102,000,000 relative to the actual Earth. In this model, it is georeferenced to the size of the Earth, making it more interesting. To construct this model, I first aligned the photos before generating a dense cloud of overlapping points in the photographs. Next, a mesh is generated, giving the globe a 3D spherical shape. Following that, the texture was overlayed on to the mesh to give the final product. This globe is significant to me because it was one of my childhood toy that inspired me to become an Earth Scientist.
