More model informationThis is an improvement on a ‘walking’ surface I created for a project in college 9000 years ago.
It uses pumps to inflate and deflate bags (yellow, at the bottom) to create an oscillating surface that pushes forward. Everything from the magenta parts down can be done with extended rubber tubing, so the foot assembly will have no electric or metal moving parts. The coil shaft at the top lets you use a standard motor to drive the pumps, which will fill and deflate properly to create forward movement. You’re basically transferring the lower surface of a screw onto the final surface through inflatable bags.
