As an artist working collaborative across art and science disciplines, this current project focuses on facial injuies sustained by soilders diring WW1 and how we perceive our identity through our external apprence. The project has been inspired by the work of Harold Gillies and Henry Tonks. This 3D model is a 3D scan my own face with a deep wound to the lower jaw added. My own face was chosen as a canvas for my explorations of facial injuries in an attempted to assess emotional response would be to seeing myself with a similar facial wound to the soilders what fought in WW1. There is no need for colour yet as this model is focused on the physcial textures and will act as a test piece for a future collabration with the Face Lab research group at Liverpool School of Art and Design and Surgical-Art UK, where I will look into a more aesthetic alternative for prostheics than those on offer today.
