The remains of the baths complex at Wroxeter Roman City.
Baths were at the heart of Roman civic life, and these baths were at the centre of the fourth-largest city in Roman Britain. The complex included cold, warm and hot baths, warm and hot dry rooms and steam rooms with underfloor heating. There were also shops and a market hall where bathers could buy refreshments.
The complex includes the ‘old work’, a seven-metre high section of the main baths basilica which is the largest piece of free-standing Roman masonry in England.
