More model informationMy dissertation research focused on using high-definition laser scanning as a method for documenting historical shipwrecks, and my case study was the ship remains discovered below the World Trade Center in Manhattan. (See http://nautarch.tamu.edu/CRL/WTC/index.html for more info).
This is the stern knee, a 600lb single piece of timber that acted as the main structural support for the aft end of the ship. I love the details you can see on this model, like the adze marks from when the shipbuilders were shaping this timber. (Note: this model only has about 60% of the resolution due to file size limits here on Sketchfab.)
