More model informationA Fuel Oil Sampling Cup from c.1937. This cup would’ve been used for collection samples of fuel oil, either on oil fired vessels or in fuel oil pumphouses, such as the one located in Lyness, Hoy. The pumphouse has all of it’s original machinery from it’s completion in 1937 and now hosts Scapa FLow Museum, in which this object is in it’s collection. The musuem tells the story of wartime Orkney, from the personal stories of islanders and service people, up to setting the scene for internationally important events for the war at sea during WW1 and WW2. The museum has recently become a finailst for ArtFund’s museum of the year.
