More model informationColor: Yellow Year: around 1960 This is a plastic mine helmet used at the the Oranje-Nassau Mijnen in Heerlen. Different colors are meant to indicate different rank of the miners. This yellow is meant for the ordinary miner, the hack who released the coal in the pillars. There are also red, blue and white helmets. Red is for the bank worker, the person who was technically involved with the maintenance and repair of the machines underground. Blue is for the electrician and white for the supervisors. In this case, miners can recognize others’ role according to their helmets, which are obvious visual information in dim and noisy underground enviroment.
