More model informationThe ‘Yett’ was a defensive iron gate usually mounted on the inside of an outer entrance door of smaller Scottish castles to protect against raiders. Its iron bars were interwoven making it virtually impossible to dismantle. It would have been bolted shut from the inside. Since a timber door could be burned down fairly easily by raiders, this was a very useful security feature.
