More model informationModel of the extended hexagon shaped infantry pillbox commonly found on the North and East Yorkshire coasts. Constructed to bullet-proof standard (0.38m thick walls), this pillbox was the mainstay of Yorkshire’s Coastal Crust defences.
Though this pillbox is often refferred to as the ‘lozenge pillbox’ it isn’t actually lozenge shaped (do a Google if you don’t belive me!). This is likely to be a nickname applied to this pillbox type in the 90s. The actual wartime ‘type’ or drawing for this pillbox is currently unknown and hasn’t yet been identified through archive research.
This model features an interpretation of the structure and its function based on my field recording and interpretation.
