More model informationA model of a Second World War period Medium Machine Gun Pillbox; commonly found on the Yorkshire Coast.
This pillbox was nicknamed the ‘Eared pillbox’ in the 90s as the forward projecting entrances apparently look like a pair of ears (they don’t). This nickname does not describe the form or function of the pillbox. The actual wartime ‘type’ or drawing reference of this pillbox is currently unknown and documentary research is still required to identify a historically accurate term for the design.
This model features an interpretation of the structure and its function based on my field recording and interpretation.
