The main anchor of the Zeewijk wreck site, outer Half Moon Reef, Pelsaert Group, Houtman Abrolhos Islands. 4.5m long.
In 2022, the WA Museum conducted an expedition to resurvey the Zeewijk outer reef wreck site. The site is difficult to access, requiring flat surf and low wind conditions. Between 13 to 16 March, good weather conditions allowed the team to record the underwater archaeological features and site environment using digital 3D photogrammetry.
The work was funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and supported by the WA Museum, Flinders University of South Australia, Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (RCE), and Commonwealth Underwater Cultural Heritage Program. Logistical support and local knowledge was provided by the Liddon family.
