When zeppelins first appeared around the turn of the century, they opened up the promise of a brand new age of transportation. The rise of aircraft a few decades later, combined with the Hindenberg tragedy, relegated the fantastic craft to a mere blip in the history of man’s technological drive for innovation. Zeppelins have, however, enjoyed a renaissance with the popularity of the steampunk aesthetic, which uses technology and designs from the Victorian Age to re-imagine an alternative history.
