ZO31 Watership Windlass Cheek Piece 16th Century

From 14 July to 8 August 2025, the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (RCE) organized the fourth edition of the Field School Ship Archaeology Flevoland in collaboration with Batavialand. During the continued excavation of the early 16th-century watership in Zeewolde (Flevoland, the Netherlands), this cheek piece of a windlass was documented.

The 3D model was created using an Artec Leo handheld 3D scanner, enabling precise digital recording of the timber’s shape and tool marks.
