G-day! My name is Dr David Hocking and I am proud to be joining the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (Australia) as their new Senior Curator of Vertebrate Zoology and Palaeontology!

In this role, I aim to connect wildlife with our communities - sharing my passion for the amazing creatures that call lutruwita home!

My main research interest is in the evolution of marine mammals (seals and whales). I completed my PhD at Monash University in the Evans EvoMorph Lab, where I also continue to collaborate closely as an Adjunct Researcher.

This 3D scene shows me standing before TMAG’s amazing beaked whale skull collection. The 3D model was created using an iPhone 12 Pro and the scene was assembled in Blender.

To learn more about my work please see my profile with The Conversation.

See you all soon!
