This collection features a selection of objects that were discovered by archaeologists at the site of an ancient settlement that was built on the edge of a prehistoric lake near Scarborough, North Yorkshire. The site, now known as Star Carr, was first occupied 11,000 years ago in a period known as the Mesolithic (Middle Stone Age).

These objects can be used to give pupils an insight into what life in Yorkshire was like during the Mesolithic.

Each object comes with a description, annotations which provide further details, and some enquiry questions you may wish to use with your pupils in the classroom.
