Today we are celebrating an important milestone: three of our favorite users are the first who just reached 1 million views on their Sketchfab profile: MestatyWar Gaming and HTC.  One great 3D artist, one great gaming company, one great brand.

1 million views is a lot. It’s like youtube-lot. You see me coming 🙂 Here is a quick break down of what it means for us at Sketchfab and how we got there:

  • 3D is a true media format, just as video or images. It’s even better than images and videos: it’s the only non-passive media. The world is 3D, and we are only going to see more and more of this format. 3D files used to be kept on hard drives, or shared only among 3D folks. But now you have a platform to share 3D with the world.
  • It just works. No more plugins, just a plug-and-play embed, which can display real-time interactive 3D on any web page, from any device, including mobile, and even in VR.
  • Sketchfab is a scalable platform, which can handle heavy traffic and millions of views. This is the result of a lot of work from our dev team, a few breaks – thanks for bearing with us on this – and some sleepless nights.
  • Sketchfab is a good place to get exposure for your work, and hard work and good work pays. Check our Rockstar series for tips on how to maximise your exposure.

We would like to thank Mestaty, War Gaming and HTC for being such great community members, we can’t wait to see more of their work! Who is up for 1 billion?
