Announcing Projects for Teams

Back to overview

We are pleased to announce the beta launch of Projects, which adds even greater functionality to Sketchfab for Teams, our robust 3D asset management platform announced earlier this year. Intended to make collaboration between team members easier and more organized, the feature gives collaborators the ability to create projects, populate them with specific models, control who can access each project, and sort models within projects.

Projects for business

Managing several complex projects—and the 3D media for those projects—can be challenging. Projects allows businesses to control who can view, contribute to, and manage a project, ensuring that security and privacy are maintained. Our search filters let team members view models by project, file format, poly count, owner, and more.

I will be using this project feature for our sales reps globally to enhance and elevate our footwear selling experience via Zoom while working from home due to COVID-19. Our sales reps can’t physically visit our accounts and retailers so this 3D shoe experience is the next best thing.”

Sean McGuirk, Trade & Experiential Activations Manager, Toms

Having 100s of models both in published and testing states, the new Sketchfab project feature will allow the Rawson team to better catalogue and access models. The new project structures and user security functionality will also enable Rawson Group Brands to coexist in Sketchfab and manage on a controlled permission basis.

The new search and sorting functions also makes locating models much easier than the previous design, eliminating a major pain point when you have a large portfolio of models to manage.

Overall, the new Project function enables intuitive cross-team collaboration while enhancing the Sketchfab user experience.”

Projects for education

With many classes being taught online this fall, the ability to organize 3D course materials or student work into class-specific groups has greatly simplified daily work for both teachers and students. In fact, roughly half of those using Projects and Sketchfab for Teams are educational institutions.

Students can upload their work to the project, receive feedback, and view their classmates’ work all in one private place without the need for exchanging heavy 3D files or lengthy emails. Teachers are able to easily view students’ work and find what they’re looking for with our advanced search functionality.

We think that the Projects feature is a wonderful way for our students to showcase their work to their class and for teachers to evaluate the works of their students and give good advice (annotations) more easily than ever!”

Mathieu Perreault, Internship Coordinator | Lecturer, Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue

In addition to offering standout tools for education, Sketchfab also offers educational users a significant discount on subscription plans. To discuss the needs of your course or educational institution, contact us.

Sketchfab for Teams is currently available for Enterprise customers and for Premium customers, on an on-demand basis. We’d love to hear from you if you want to start using Sketchfab for your team.
