This week we’re turning our attention to Beer Steins! Inspired by the popularity of the custom mason jars we commissioned for the happy hour we hosted with Allegorithmic at last year’s Games Developer Conference (GDC), we want you to model your very own beer stein – the kind of thing a champion would drink from in a bar.
This year we’ve teamed up with HP who are providing HP Z 3D Cameras and Allegorithmic who are providing a full year of Substance Indie for TWO lucky winners! We’ll also showcase your work at this years GDC happy hour! If you’re attending the conference, you can RSVP here.
TL;DR: Design and model your own Beer Stein, upload it to Sketchfab and tag it #GDCBeerbustChallenge.
Bonus: If you upload using Substance Painter, we’ll gift you a free month of Sketchfab pro. =)

This sounds awesome! A couple of questions:
– How strict is the ‘medieval’ aspect?
– Will a challenge thread be created at some point? (So far I haven’t been able to find one, and it isn’t linked above.)
Thanks!
Not strict. It’s more of a suggestion to inspire creation. And yeah it’s linked in the post: https://forum.sketchfab.com/t/sketchfab-freeform-challenge-gdc-beer-bust/19720
Thanks for your reply! The link was missing when I commented earlier, hence my confusion. Cheers 🙂
A must have
for us ppl only. That sucks :/
I don’t think so, a winner is a winner even if he’s french, japanese, english…
Only shipping the special mason jar prize, but you can pick it up at GDC too.
@johnnyBadAppleseed but you can find shipping service in your country which have post address and happily deliver prize to you just for a few bucks!
I wanted to know when I upload my mug design, do I upload it to the challenge thread or to my own account and should it be pictures of various views or a turntable movie?
Upload it to your own Sketchfab account and tag it with #GDCBeerbustChallenge. Post a link to your model in the challenge thread. No turntable movies please – we have a better solution for that 🙂
Duh, never saw the forum which said medieval style..
