In a world built on three dimensional squares, a crafty storyteller (you) must create and build a (Scooby Doo-like) mystery scene in Minecraft (MC). That means create something light hearted and not overly violent. A fun mystery to solve that you’d share with friends or family. Once your Minecraft mystery is ready, export your scene to Sketchfab with tools like Mineways and use annotations to provide helpful hints for solving your mystery. Each contestant will receive a month of Sketchfab PRO so you can use up to 20 annotations per scene. May the most crafty storyteller win!
We’ve got an exciting chest of prizes for you, and an amazing group of judges who will use all their expertise to help us pick the winners. Below are two types of examples that “have hints” to help solve the mystery.
- You can create levels that are less artsy (Michael’s Example) but more functional if you want people to explore and play them in Minecraft.
- You can create an art piece that has a mystery scene (LordBlockMC Example).

How to enter
Create and build a (Scooby Doo-like) mystery scene in Minecraft. Once your Minecraft mystery is ready, export your scene to Sketchfab with tools like Mineways and use annotations to provide helpful hints for your mystery. Each contestant will receive a month of Sketchfab PRO so you can use up to 20 annotations per scene. You can also optionally upload your Minecraft level to Planet Minecraft (PMC) to include in your Sketchfab model description to let players play your mystery in minecraft. Just be sure to tag your PMC project as “sketchfab-minecraft-mystery” on their site.
We’ll post regular contest updates on the Minecraft Mystery contest forum. Start your own topic in the same forum where you document your work in progress (#WIP). Once you start your forum topic, we’ll give you one month of Pro, which allows you to create up to 200MB per model and use up to 20 annotations per model. Find out more here.
Post regular updates (with images and Sketchfab embeds), and be sure to mark which entry is your final submission. Tag your work in progress with #minecraftmystery-wip.
Publish your final entry to your Sketchfab account, and tag it with #minecraftmystery-final and #minecraft.
You can submit as many entries as you like, but only submit new work that you created for this contest! Entries close Monday November 14th, 23:59 New York time.

- No ripping of models from anywhere on the Internet, all entries must be original works. Using work that is not your own will immediately disqualify you.
