We’ll be celebrating our 7th birthday tomorrow and we want you to join in the fun! Help us spread the love for Sketchfab far and wide!
Tomorrow we encourage you to make an animated GIF of one of your models on Sketchfab and share it on your favorite social accounts along with your Sketchfab profile url (like sketchfab.com/bitgem) and the hashtag #SketchfabDay. We’ll be following along all day long and re-tweeting our favorites!
It’s a simple three step process:
1. Choose one of your models to feature
Here’s one of mine:
2. Generate a GIF
Making an animated GIF of your favorite Sketchfab model couldn’t be easier. Just use our web-based GIF Exporter. Enter the URL of the model you want or search by name and hit “render”. If the model is animated, the exporter will render the frames of the animation. If it’s not, you can select a duration, and the exporter will render out as a spinning “turntable”.
You can choose any resolution, but the default 640×360 is already a great optimized size for social media.
3. Share it!
Finally, share your animated GIF on your favorite social media channels on our 7th birthday, tomorrow, March 26th. Here’s an example of how your post might look:
Don’t forget to use the hashtag #SketchfabDay and add your profile URL. If you prefer, you can share a favorite model from another creator, but be sure to add a credit or mention if the work is not yours.
But wait! Don’t post yet. Remember, #SketchfabDay is tomorrow!
To celebrate our 7th birthday, we’re offering 25% off everything in the Sketchfab Store all week long. Use discount code SKETCHFABDAY at checkout. Valid through March 31st.
This is awesome. btw. the gif renderer isn’t storing the frame delay so they are playing at full speed. I like to use 0.024 delay per frame ( 24 fps). This is going to be cool!
also, anything under 2MB will autoplay in txt messages and most posts online.
