Hello, by saying hand-painting, do you mean albedo only? Thank you:)

  • Avatar Lindsey says:

Sorry for the negative feedback. $100 voucher for amazon for a task that will take at lest 3 hours or probably 2 days for the most people? How much you guys earn at Sketchfab per hour? 🙂

    • Hi Lindsey – we’ll take your feedback into consideration. This is a voluntary challenge and I wouldn’t expect people to be participating to earn money like it was a job or a commission.

  • Avatar Pieter Geusens says:

how far can we go in changing the geometry?

    • You can’t change the geometry at all, hand painted texturing only!

      • Avatar Pieter Geusens says:

Oh in the rules it says you may edit the geometry? but i might read it wrong thanks!

      • My bad Pieter, as the rules state:
“You may edit the original model geometry, but must remain within the same poly count: 1.6k faces.”

The idea is that you may wish to tweak some of the geometry to make it easier to incorporate into your hand painting workflow (different UV layout, separate parts etc.). If you start changing the shape of the gameboy, adding and removing parts your entry will not be considered valid.

      • Avatar Dennys says:

        Hey Thomas,
I´m almost done with my entry for this challenge and i asumed, that it would be ok to edit the geometry like it is mentioned in the description. I changed the proportions here and there to fit the proportions of an actual GameBoy. The screen for example is too pushed in for a GameBoy. Would such “changes to the geometry” still be ok?

      • Hi Dennys, changing the shape of the model is not allowed – I’ve amended the rules to make this clearer. Apologies!

  • Avatar alberto bordignon says:

Hi, can we use normal map?

  • Avatar Michael H says:

Hi, I’ve started working on this and had a really interesting idea I wanted to explore for this contest. I’ve maintained the polygon count at 1.6K and the overall shape is still almost exactly the same as the original’s (trimmed some edges), and added some internal parts to the Gameboy model, like a circuit board, using the extra freed-up polygons. I would like to display the model to have a semi-transparent shell (similar to some versions of the Gameboy Color). Would that be okay? I will still be hand-painting all of the textures. Thanks 🙂

  • Avatar Caroline says:

Hello! Can we use a normal map or not ? Thank you 🙂

  • Avatar Eyad Lotfy says:

I was wondering, what about text? could i use text from Photoshop or even text should be painted?

  • Avatar michael says:

Missing “challenge thread” link on rule post.

  • Avatar Warkarma says:

Hey. Will you let us know who won the challenge? Thanks

  • Avatar Warkarma says:

    Congratz to the winner
