Sketchfab Low Poly Challenge: Current Events

Back to overview

Greetings to all artists on the ground! In ever-changing times in an ever-changing world, it only makes sense that the way we report what is going on in the world is ever-changing as well. Now is your chance to contribute to this movement with this challenge’s theme: current events circa the last 5 years (2012-now).

While certain figures have dominated and continues to dominate the political atmosphere, we also encourage you to branch out to other non-American events as well. In a low-poly scene style, (no more than 5k triangles), create a factual scene and/or model of an event that has happened on a big enough scale to be reported by mainstream media in the last 5 years. While a little political bias in inherently human, please do not be on purposely offensive in your narrative.

This challenge is a great opportunity to push the limited limitations of the low poly style and see what kind of stories you can tell! All experience levels and low-poly stylistic choices welcome. All that’s required is for this challenge is to submit the final product before April 17th and you tag your art as #currentevents to enter.

The restrictions in terms of materials used and the subject matter always bring an outpour of creativity from the awesomely talented Sketchfab community, so we’d love to give something back to you! Here are the rules:

  • Factual events only
  • Please title it accurately and if there is a chance for it to not be immediately recognized, a sentence or two in the description is highly recommended
  • Annotations encouraged, but NOT required
  • Once you’ve created your scene, upload it to Sketchfab, tag it #currentevents
