It’s the middle of January and this means it’s time to celebrate the Sketchfab Store’s anniversary! Our journey to build the world’s best 3D content marketplace has been exciting and fulfilling. We have grown the store by a factor of 20X since its inception and helped thousands of creators to start earning recurring income with their assets.
None of this would have been possible without our amazing seller community. We want to celebrate by continuing our anniversary tradition of waiving our commission fee for three full days. All sellers will be earning 100% on sales during this 72 hour period, beginning at 12 AM EST on January 18th.
As we mentioned in our Year in Review blog post, we have witnessed the stellar resilience of our sellers and their superb creative output over this past challenging year. During this time we surpassed $1 million in seller payouts and managed to grow our inventory beyond 100,000 assets. An impressive 80% of our sellers made at least one sale.
The Sketchfab Store has become a go-to destination for tens of thousands of buyers who need high-quality 3D models for their projects and every day we see more organizations and brands relying on our marketplace.
We have also enhanced our buyer support by enabling more streamlined workflows. Recently, we released updates to our Unity, Blender, and Cinema 4D plugins, allowing buyers to import their purchases directly and flawlessly into their projects.
Additionally, we analyzed the trends from 2020 to provide some direction and perspective as we embark on the 4th year in the life of the Sketchfab Store. Check out what we discovered in the infographic below.

Big congrats! Guess this the only major marketplace with direct 3D preview (correct me if I’m wrong) – and it seems buyers like it…
After a year, I’m currently getting around 3 sales a week, not bad for my modest raw 3D scans portfolio…

I really like the real-time 3D aspect of the shop. Everyone knows exactly what they are buying.
In the future I would like to have a way to personalize my shop. At the moment it is not possible to introduce a brand. In addition, I would like to have a way to measure the performance of the shop.
-monthly income
-number of monthly sales
-bestseller lists
-determine discounts yourself
-average sales prices of an item
-comparison to the previous year
-affiliate programs
-origin of users and so on….
Shops like the one from Artstation are much further along in these regards.
