The temple of Horus, located in Edfu, (60km north of Aswan), is the most preserved temple of ancient Egypt. This is mainly due to the fact that construction of the temple only began in 237 BCE. Construction of the temple and it’s additions took about 180 years and it was finally completed in 57 BCE. The site of the temple is also where Horus was said to have fought Seth. Along the walls are many inscription describing different battles and myths. The temple was excavated in the 1860s and is the only know temple to have been completed.
