Gerald is a tad wonky - give him a spin and you’ll see what we mean. He’s also quite durable, which is lucky given he sits in an air vent in a tower in one of the most futuristic sustainable cities on the globe. Made from recycled parts, Gerald is designed to function as a “Wildlife Housing and Rehabilitation Unit” (ie a nesting spot/perch for endangered birds and even small mammals), which works a treat, as moments before this shot was taken two Swift Parrots were spotted perching in his chest cavity (shame they scare easily). It is the second sculpture found perched high above in the FSC’s (FutureSustainableCity’s) Attenborough Renewable Sculpture Garden.
